The AI solutions architect works with customers or business units to design AI solutions that meet a specific need. The role is client facing and technical, covering discovery, solution design, feasibility assessment and often a proof of concept. A significant part of the value is in managing expectations, since AI is frequently expected to do more than it can.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct discovery to understand requirements and data availability
- Design AI solutions that are feasible with the data actually available
- Assess feasibility honestly and set realistic expectations
- Build proofs of concept demonstrating value
- Estimate cost, effort and ongoing operational requirements
- Present solutions to technical and executive audiences
- Support delivery teams through implementation
- Advise on data preparation and governance requirements
- Evaluate platforms and tools against requirements
- Document solution designs and hand over cleanly
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years in solution architecture or consulting with AI delivery experience
- Strong technical understanding of AI systems and their requirements
- Ability to assess whether available data supports the proposed solution
- Excellent stakeholder communication and expectation management
- Experience building proofs of concept quickly
- Understanding of cost and operational implications
- Willingness to advise against a project that will not work
- Clear solution documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud AI platform certification
- Industry specific domain experience
