The healthcare systems analyst gathers requirements, analyzes processes and specifies changes to the systems a healthcare organization runs on. Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Gather and document requirements from clinical and operational stakeholders
• Analyze current processes and identify improvement opportunities
• Specify system changes clearly enough to be built and tested
• Support testing and validate that changes meet the requirement
• Analyze system and clinical data to support decisions
• Produce reports and dashboards for operational use
• Coordinate between users, vendors and technical teams
• Document system behavior and process flows
• Support system selection and evaluation
• Train users on new or changed functionality

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, information systems, business or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

• 3+ years as a systems or business analyst in healthcare
• Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills
• Understanding of clinical and revenue cycle processes
• Analytical capability including SQL or reporting tools
• Ability to work with clinical staff and technical teams
• Experience supporting testing and validation
• Clear written specifications
• Understanding of healthcare data privacy requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with a major EHR platform
• Process improvement or Lean training
