Investor Relations Manager Job Description Template

The investor relations manager owns the relationship between the fund and the people whose money it manages. That means reporting, meetings, due diligence questionnaires and the difficult conversations that follow a bad quarter. The role needs enough investment fluency to discuss positioning credibly and enough discipline to keep every communication consistent with what the fund actually does.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with existing investors and their consultants
  • Produce monthly and quarterly investor reporting and commentary
  • Complete due diligence questionnaires and requests for proposal
  • Coordinate investor meetings, calls and annual updates
  • Maintain the data room and keep marketing materials current
  • Work with compliance to ensure all communications meet marketing rules
  • Track investor sentiment, redemption risk and concentration of the investor base
  • Support capital raising alongside the business development team
  • Maintain the customer relationship management system and interaction records
  • Prepare management for investor meetings with relevant background

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of investor relations or client service experience in asset management
  • Ability to explain strategy, performance and positioning accurately
  • Experience with institutional due diligence processes
  • Excellent written communication, since reporting is the main product
  • Understanding of marketing and performance presentation rules
  • Organized approach to a recurring reporting calendar
  • Discretion with sensitive investor and performance information
  • Comfort in front of sophisticated institutional investors

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA charter or progress toward it
  • Existing relationships with institutional allocators
