The SaaS operations manager keeps the commercial machinery of a subscription business running: systems, data, reporting and the processes that connect marketing, sales, success and finance. The role is unglamorous and consequential at the same time, because most disputes about what the revenue numbers actually say trace back to process and data issues that this function owns. Done well, it is the reason the board pack and the sales system agree with each other.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Own the commercial systems stack and the data flowing through it
- Maintain accuracy of pipeline, revenue and customer data
- Build reporting and dashboards for the revenue functions
- Design and document processes across the customer lifecycle
- Support forecasting with reliable data and analysis
- Manage subscription billing, renewals and their operational accuracy
- Administer and integrate the tools the commercial teams use
- Analyze funnel conversion and identify process bottlenecks
- Support compensation calculation and its accuracy
- Improve process efficiency and reduce manual work
