The SaaS software engineer builds and maintains a multi tenant product that customers use continuously, which shapes the engineering in specific ways. Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Build and maintain features across the product’s backend and interface
• Design for multi tenancy with correct data isolation between customers
• Write tests covering both typical and adversarial tenant scenarios
• Instrument features so their usage and reliability can be measured
• Support progressive rollout and feature flagging of new functionality
• Investigate and resolve production issues affecting customers
• Improve performance for customers at the large end of the distribution
• Participate in code review and design discussions
• Reduce operational toil through automation and better defaults
• Work with product and support on customer reported problems

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience

Required Skills and Experience

• 3+ years building and operating production web applications
• Strong skills in a modern backend language and framework
• Experience with relational databases and query performance
• Understanding of multi tenant architecture and its pitfalls
• Testing discipline appropriate to continuously deployed software
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and containerised deployment
• Ability to debug production issues from logs and metrics
• Clear communication with product and support colleagues

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with feature flagging and progressive delivery
• Exposure to a product serving both small and enterprise customers
