The role requires genuine taste and the discipline to work within a system, since visual design in a product context is about coherence across hundreds of screens rather than the impact of any single one.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Design the visual layer of product interfaces
- Establish and maintain typography, color and spacing systems
- Build and extend visual components within the design system
- Ensure visual consistency across the product
- Produce and manage iconography and illustration
- Verify color contrast and visual accessibility
- Prepare and hand over assets to engineering
- Review implemented interfaces for visual accuracy
- Adapt visual design across breakpoints and platforms
- Contribute to brand expression within the product
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication or equivalent portfolio experience
Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of visual design for digital products
- Strong portfolio demonstrating typographic and compositional skill
- Proficiency with Figma and the Adobe suite
- Experience working within and extending a design system
- Understanding of accessibility requirements including contrast
- Attention to detail across a large surface area
- Ability to work to a brand rather than a personal style
- Good handover practice with engineers
Preferred Qualifications
- Illustration or iconography skill
- Motion design capability
