The decentralised autonomous organization operations lead makes a DAO function in practice, covering governance process, treasury operations, contributor coordination and the reporting that token holders rely on. The role exists because decentralised governance still needs somebody to run the process, and it requires operating without conventional authority, since almost nothing can simply be directed.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Run the governance process from proposal through to execution
- Manage treasury operations, multisig signers and payment execution
- Coordinate contributors, working groups and their deliverables
- Produce transparent reporting on treasury, spending and governance activity
- Support proposal authors in preparing well specified proposals
- Maintain governance documentation and process records
- Manage service provider relationships and their accountability
- Facilitate community calls and governance discussion
- Track delegate participation and voter turnout
- Improve governance process based on what is actually working
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, law or a related field
Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years in operations, governance or program management with DAO experience
- Understanding of on chain governance mechanisms and voting systems
- Experience with multisig treasury operations and their controls
- Ability to coordinate people without direct authority
- Excellent written communication and documentation
- Comfort operating transparently under community scrutiny
- Strong organization across many parallel workstreams
- Judgment about process versus flexibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with governance tooling such as Snapshot, Tally or Safe
- Background in traditional governance or corporate secretarial work
