NFT Engineer Job Description Template

The NFT engineer builds the contracts and infrastructure behind non fungible tokens, covering minting mechanics, metadata, royalties and marketplace integration. The technical surface is wider than it appears: metadata storage decisions determine whether a collection survives, minting design determines whether a launch is fair or immediately exploited, and royalty enforcement varies across marketplaces.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement NFT contracts following ERC-721, ERC-1155 or comparable standards
• Design minting mechanics resistant to bots and unfair advantage
• Build metadata pipelines and manage decentralised storage
• Implement royalty standards and understand their enforcement limits
• Integrate with marketplaces and indexing services
• Build reveal mechanics with verifiable randomness where required
• Optimize gas costs for large scale mints
• Develop supporting front ends and minting interfaces
• Monitor collection activity and respond to contract issues
• Support integrations from partners and marketplaces

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience

Required Skills and Experience

• 2+ years building NFT contracts and supporting infrastructure
• Strong Solidity with deployed collections
• Understanding of token standards and their extensions
• Experience with IPFS, Arweave or comparable storage
• Knowledge of verifiable randomness and its correct use
• Awareness of bot mitigation and fair launch mechanics
• Front end skills sufficient to build a minting interface
• Careful testing given the irreversibility of a bad launch

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with high volume launches
• Familiarity with marketplace protocols such as Seaport
