We are seeking an analytical thinker who enjoys solving complex engineering problems to serve as our new Linux Engineer. In this role, you will perform production systems integration within a cutting-edge Linux based virtualization stack, streamline and secure our applications, storage, and physical servers, and install, troubleshoot, configure, and repair company hardware. Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the software, hardware, and systems on a Linux server
- Design, build, and maintain core services and infrastructure
- Ensure compliance of information assurance policies, concepts, and measures
- Install and monitor Linux operating systems
- Implement security measures and identify potential issues
- Update security settings for enterprise firewalls
- Automate vulnerability and security patching
- Participate in programming, scripting, and process automation
- Design and manage backup and recovery
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
Required Skills and Experience
- 2+ years of hands-on Linux Systems Administration experience
- Experience installing and configuring mail services, firewalls, and networks
- Experience with information security frameworks such as device encryption, digital certificates, and anti-virus tooling
- Experience using observability tools and stack traces
- Experience with Windows OS installation and cloning
- Experience scripting and developing system automation tools
- Experience with log analysis, monitoring, and alerting systems
- Knowledge of TCP/IP addressing, routing, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of active directory principles such as group policy object creation, AD OUs, and domain authentication
- Familiarity with fundamental concepts including DNS, VPN, and PKI
- Familiarity with cloud provisioning
- Knowledge of modern configuration management tooling
- Knowledge of gateways, firewalls, and routers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VMWare, NetApp, and/or Redhat Enterprise Linux
- Experience with virtual server implementation and management
- CISSP or similar security certification
