We are in need of a creative and experienced UI Developer to design websites that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing for our customers. This role will work with back-end developers and web developers to ensure that the website is optimized for various devices and presented in an attractive way. A key element of this role will be performing research on how users interact with our website to improve the system operability. Success in this role will be demonstrated by improving user experience scores and the ease of use of applications. Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of design principles and be able to accommodate the aesthetic ideals of the company, product, or program without compromising usability.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the development team to design and build software applications to function across multiple platforms
- Translate UI/UX design wireframes to code
- Validate the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use
- Maintain and improve the website by developing new user-facing and mobile-based features
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
- Test user interfaces in multiple platforms to ensure all designs render correctly and all systems function properly
- Conduct research on consumer behavior and program use
- Gather feedback from users and customers and utilize it to build solutions
- Identify areas for improvement in existing interface structures
- Write functional requirement documents and guides
- Ensure high graphic standards and brand consistency
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of experience as a professional UI developer
- Experience with front-end coding and development technologies
- Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, and CSS
- Proficiency in Java, C++, or other programming languages
- Knowledge of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms
- Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues and their common work-arounds
- Knowledge of SEO principles
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
