GCP Engineer Job Description Template

Our company is looking for a Google Cloud Platform Engineer to work with our engineering team to implement, maintain, and optimize our cloud-based systems. This role will work with a variety of IT professionals in our organization to ensure our cloud computing systems meet the needs of our business and customers. The main responsibility of this role is delivering complex solutions and cloud initiatives, as well as deploying and debugging systems.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and deploy modular cloud-based systems
• Develop and maintain cloud solutions in keeping with our company’s business needs  and best practices
• Build GCP data-driven solutions for enterprise data warehouse and data lakes
• Ensure efficient data storage and process functions in accordance with security policies
• Identify and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
• Review existing systems and make recommendations for improvement
• Collaborate with clients to understand their business requirements and turn them into technical documentation and deliverables
• Provide cloud support and recommendations for clients 

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience with infrastructure as code development
• 2+ years of direct hands-on experience with the GCP stack
• Experience building multi-tenant IaaS and PaaS cloud solutions
• Experience designing cloud solutions
• Experience with data integration and migration, as well as ETL/data integration tools
• Experience with visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, or Oracle OBIEE
• Experience using automation scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, or Bash
• Experience with SDLC and continuous delivery tool sets such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or comparable tools
• Proficient in at least one SQL language such as Redshift or Snowflake
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications

• GCP certification 
• Experience migrating legacy systems into GCP technologies
