We are looking to hire a full-time US Data Privacy Officer. As both product and commercial counsel, this position will advise business and product development teams with regard to legal matters. In addition to managing cyber and data breach incident response in the United States, the successful candidate will ensure proper management of sensitive information, conduct routine internal security audits, stay up to date on legislative and regulatory developments pertaining to data protection and cybersecurity, and serve as our primary point of contact with data protection authorities and regulators.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Work cooperatively with the business and production teams to create and uphold privacy-by-design policies that support global objectives
- Give production, security, marketing, and online teams strategic and useful advice and counsel regarding the implications of privacy laws, regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions with reference to products, marketing materials, and other business needs
- Draft and negotiate contracts for analytics, CRM engagement, and ad-tech teams
- Oversee the investigation and reporting of personal data breaches if a data protection concern arises and coordinate the incident response plan with other employees or departments
- Assume the role of the strategic designer and implementer for all group-wide initiatives and activities related to data privacy and protection
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security or a related field
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years or of relevant experience in the field of data privacy, including prior in-house or legal firm work
- Prior experience as a data privacy officer or senior leader for an international organization in an information security or data protection role
- Comprehensive knowledge of privacy legislation in the US, Latin America, and other jurisdiction
- Knowledge of product advising
- Knowledge of complex agreements in our industry
- Ability to work on several projects at once and foster consensus among stakeholders from different functions
- Excellent legal and business judgment

- Relevant data protection qualification
