Security Analyst Job Description Template

Our company is looking for an experienced Security Analyst to join our growing IT team. This role will monitor our networks for security issues, document any incidents or breaches, and install and maintain security software and systems. In addition, the Security Analyst will help develop best practices for IT security across the organization. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills as well as experience in penetration testing and security issue documentation.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and implement efficient IT security systems
• Monitor computer networks for security issues
• Investigate security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents
• Respond to, assess, and document security breaches and other issues
• Install new security measures and software, including firewalls and data encryption programs
• Upgrade systems and security protections such as antivirus software
• Evaluate, install, and test new security technology
• Develop organization best practices for IT security
• Perform penetration testing to identify potential vulnerabilities and security weaknesses
• Analyze IT requirements and provide guidance on security improvements
• Gather and analyze feedback from end users to continuously improve systems

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in information security
• Experience with computer network penetration testing
• Experience identifying and mitigating network vulnerabilities
• Experience installing security software and documenting security issues
• Knowledge of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus software, and IDPS
• Knowledge of patch management 
• Strong written and oral communication skills
