The AI Product Owner’s primary goal is to represent the customer to the development team. This role will work closely with product management to define the team’s roadmap aligning to the program vision and priorities, with a focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. As a key member of the Agile development team, they will have a significant role in maximizing the value produced by the team, providing the data and specifications programmers need to deploy AI products. To succeed in this role, you should be an expert in AI and able to become an expert in our business domain.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with executives and stakeholders to define problems and rank AI-based solutions
- Identify new data sources and perform gap analysis on existing data
- Develop and manage training, validation, and test data sets
- Develop and manage AI product roadmaps and timelines
- Build process maps, personas, user journeys, wireframes, and prototypes to help customers understand the product vision
- Assist in translating the company’s strategic vision into data science-focused product initiatives
- Research AI algorithms and capabilities
- Conduct market research into existing products and solutions
- Facilitate workshops and interviews to understand customer goals and pain points and identify opportunities where AI can have a significant positive impact
- Collaborate with software teams to develop solutions
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, engineering, or a related field
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience working on enterprise products
- Experience in management consulting, software development, or product management and development
- Experience with customer discovery
- Experience conducting market research to identify opportunities and estimate their value to customers
- Experience developing product roadmaps or equivalent plans
- Experience working in data analytics or AI projects
- Experience designing and developing new products or services
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies, frameworks, and processes
- Knowledge of AI/ML
- Knowledge of technology implementations
- Strong collaboration skills, including working closely with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a product owner
