We are seeking an accomplished Data Engineering Manager to help build our enterprise data & analytics capabilities. This role will take charge of creating innovative products and services for various business operations, in collaboration with the enthusiastic and motivated product management team, as well as internal partners, architects, engineers, data analysts, and other departments. Technology is advancing more quickly than ever, and to capitalize on market disruptions for our brand we need to continuously improve our team’s capabilities in enterprise analytics, data science, and machine learning. Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct the development and implementation of scalable data and analytics solutions
- Enable analytics data products
- Create reusable components, frameworks, and libraries at scale
- Lead, motivate, coach, and develop a data engineering team
- Collaborate with product managers and analytics leaders to assist in prioritizing work
- Orient technology choices for standard practices
- Join forces with other technical teams to develop various data sets and work on specialized technologies
- Facilitate conversations about scalability of data architecture to handle massive data amounts and address diverse data challenges
- Partner to drive technical roadmaps, leverage standards and platforms, and enterprise platform and architecture
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, physics, or a related field
Required Skills and Experience
- 6+ years of experience in BI and data warehousing
- Experience scaling and managing teams
- Communication and leadership experience, including initiating and driving projects
- Experience in SQL or similar languages and development experience in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, etc.).
- Project management experience
- Data architecture experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large data sets, Hive, and defining best practices for data visualization
