Director of Analytics Job Description Template

We are looking for a Director of Analytics to join our team. This position will play a central role in driving data-driven decision making within the company. It will lead a team of analysts in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide valuable insights and recommendations. Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of data analysts and provide guidance and support in their day-to-day activities
• Manage multiple resources and projects concurrently to a successful completion
• Serve as the primary point of contact on all phases of analytic projects
• Define, plan, and implement the organization’s analytic strategy
• Collect and analyze data from various sources, including internal systems, third-party tools, and market research
• Define key performance indicators and develop reports to track and measure performance based on these metrics
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data infrastructure, systems, and tools are optimized for efficient data collection, storage, and analysis
• Create compelling presentations that convey analytic insights and actionable recommendations to leadership and stakeholders
• Foster a culture of data-driven decision making within the organization and promote the use of analytics to drive continuous improvement and innovation

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

• 10+ years of experience in analytics
• 3+ years of experience in a management or leadership capacity 
• Experience in data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar
• Experience with strategic planning using quantitative techniques
• Experience with campaign management and supporting technologies
• Experience working with large datasets and using statistical analysis techniques
• Thorough knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and methodologies
• Proficiency in data modeling and data manipulation
• Knowledge of data governance principles and practices
• Knowledge of data visualization best practices and tools
• Strong business acumen and the ability to connect data insights to business objectives
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
• Strong leadership and management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R
• Certification in relevant analytics tools or methodologies
