As the Data Analytics Manager, you will oversee a group of one to five Data Analysts. You will provide technical leadership in the space of business intelligence and analytics. In addition, you will prioritize work requests from multiple competing internal and external departments, and be responsible for planning future work efforts and ensuring that deliverables are met. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership abilities, technical expertise, and business acumen, leveraging their knowledge of best practices and business issues to enhance products or services.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the data analyst development team
- Supervise the Sprint planning procedure, maintaining a balance between value delivery and team capacity
- Create company procedures and guidelines for data and analytics
- Ensure the timely delivery of consistently high-quality solutions
- Develop the team’s technical and business skills
- Understand business objectives and their data to identify and lead high-quality return on investment (ROI) projects
- Obtain buy-in from key stakeholders and guide teams from project scoping to implementation
- Lead and advise teams on database ecosystems, including ideation, data management, data cleansing, visualizations, the development of queries and reporting tools, and advanced analytics
- Deploy fundamental database management capabilities, primarily via SQL, and the tools required to support data reporting and analysis
- Conduct independent research on pertinent topics, educate the team based on findings, and transform findings into useful deliverables
- Prioritize and complete tasks in a fast-paced professional setting
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, data science, programming, statistics, or a related field
Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of relevant experience with SQL development
- 3+ years of experience in business and data analysis
- Ability to lead and organize a project team
- Familiarity with data transformation and ETL tools, such as SSIS, Informatica, or Python
- Expertise in data visualization and reporting tools
- Knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably AWS, and understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by cloud computing
- Strong analytic skills and the ability to quickly understand business needs and objectives
- Strong problem solving ability for complex or difficult problems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively document, organize, and communicate your thoughts and ideas
