Email Marketer Job Description Template

As the Email Marketer, you will support overall marketing strategies by coming up with and executing marketing initiatives, directing the operations behind various marketing materials, managing portions of larger projects, and making sure the brand message is consistent across all of our brand partners. You will play a crucial role in our marketing and creative teams’ partnerships, helping to drive business and marketing strategies that are in line with company objectives by working with the designated key partners, clients and vendors.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create targeted email campaigns with lead nurturing at the 1:1 level
  • Create automated emails that are sent in response to certain customer behaviors or milestones (i.e. welcome emails, post transaction emails, abandoned cart, etc.)
  • Create and manage email campaigns, as well as lead nurturing techniques that include email segmentation, A/B testing, and optimization
  • Carry out continual quality control and asset proofing procedures to verify that linkages are functional, content is proofed, and materials comply to brand standards
  • Create, test, and maintain smart lists, email cadence flows, and email data in an email management system
  • Analyze and publish the metrics and data from A/B tests and give input to the executive management team
  • Create, carry out, and evaluate marketing strategies and programs
  • Develop higher levels of segmentation and personalization that improve programs and aid in the accomplishment of certain objectives
  • Collaborate with development resources to resolve problems and advance data integration for our automation platform
  • Create and monitor marketing budgets and expenditures
  • Discuss call volume, drop scheduling, new program developments, and campaign implementation with the sales and product teams
  • Create and distribute cross-departmental marketing campaigns and training manuals
  • Forecast marketing print inventory and work with internal and external stakeholders for new material ordering, audits, and usage
  • Ensure all creative marketing materials are regularly evaluated and follow brand requirements
  • Gather, study, and distill sales data to create marketing reports

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, business, advertising, marketing or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of expertise in email marketing
  • Expert understanding of email systems and marketing automation 
  • Experience conducting complex email marketing operations and building nurturing streams
  • Expertise with A/B testing for email conversion metrics
  • Knowledge of marketing through print, email, the web, and audio and video
  • High proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
