Media Planner Job Description Template

We are searching for a passionate Media Planner to add to our team of knowledgeable multi-media channel buyers and planners. The main goal of the planning team is to develop the business by creating possibilities and thinking strategically about the company. This group approaches problems creatively, finds fresh answers, and shows enthusiasm and commitment to the task at hand. This role will plan, negotiate, carry out, and optimize digital marketing campaigns, with a concentration on sponsored search and paid social media buys.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of media digital campaigns with an emphasis on paid search and paid social media
  • Oversee and improve paid search and paid social media campaigns
  • Create and maintain web analytics and performance statistics for digital campaigns
  • Create and manage dashboards and/or performance charts for digital campaigns
  • Install campaign trackers on all digital advertising and tracking platforms
  • Actively search for, assess, and suggest creative digital advertising opportunities
  • Foresee and control expenditures while adhering to agreed budgets

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or advertising
  • Microsoft Ads, Google Ads, or Facebook Ads certification

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of experience running digital media campaigns 
  • 2+ years of experience managing paid search campaigns and sponsored social marketing
  • Experience with digital planning and research tools (MRI, Kantar, Commspoint, etc.)
  • Experience executing campaigns in self-service platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Google Ads, etc.)
  • Experience in managing digital campaigns
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of KPI’s for digital media
  • Working familiarity with Google Analytics
  • Practical experience with ad serving and campaign tracking tools, including the use of Google Tag Manager for campaign tracking tags
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentational communication skills
  • Strong mathematical abilities with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with media buying platforms (MediaOcean, Adazzle, Nexelus, etc.)
