Technical Evangelist Job Description Template

Our growing team is seeking an experienced professional with a passion for software development and continuous learning to serve as our new Technical Evangelist. A successful candidate should have a talent for expressing technical concepts in a clear, concise, and engaging way for an audience of developers, software architects, and other IT professionals. This role also works closely with the engineering and marketing teams to produce customer-facing technical content, as well as with internal teams to develop an in-depth understanding of the product and its documentation requirements.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality technical content, including white papers, data sheets, blog posts, tutorials, product demos, and/or sample programs
• Provide technical assistance, information, and guidance to developers
• Deliver presentations and webinars on key technical topics
• Develop and deliver technical updates and customized training sessions or documents
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop the technical content calendar
• Create diagrams and charts to deepen understanding of the technical content
• Serve as a subject matter expert and technical resource for both internal and partner teams
• Maintain and update product documentation to reflect changes in the product messaging
• Provide feedback to product teams to guide the direction of the data platform
• Build relationships within the technical community and across business groups

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of technical writing experience
• Experience working in a technical role
• Experience developing and editing both short- and long-form content
• Experience with development languages such as C#, R, Python, Java, and/or JavaScript
• Experience in cloud-based data management
• Experience working on a cross-functional team
• Knowledge of data management, processing, storage, analytics, and visualization
• Knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and IoT
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to both a technical and non-technical audience
• Strong organization and multi-tasking abilities
• Strong written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
