We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Automation Engineer. This role will create detailed project roadmaps for automation projects and automated systems to use in a production and manufacturing environment, in collaboration with departmental and corporate leadership. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, in addition to thorough knowledge of engineering and automation.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated systems and automation framework settings
- Design and define system architecture for new or existing computer systems
- Develop automation scripts in Perl and Ruby
- Coordinate system development, including the design, modeling, security, integration, and testing
- Identify, develop, and implement new processes to improve productivity and efficiency in our manufacturing operations
- Identify and resolve issues using existing or potential solutions
- Create detailed road maps to guide automation projects from initial conception to final implementation
- Manage and document system configurations
- Support and upgrade existing automation technology
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Provide technical support and training as needed
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience with automation or control systems
- Experience with the design and implementation of automated systems
- Experience with programming languages including Python and JavaScript
- Experience with custom scripting in languages such as C#, Python, R, Java, or SQL
- Experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium or Appium
- Experience with robotics, artificial intelligence, or machine learning
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and best practices of industrial automation, including process design, test procedures, and data collection validation
- Familiarity with cloud-based computing environments
- Strong communication and organization skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related technical field
- Experience working on automated manufacturing processes
