DevOps Cloud Engineer Job Description Template

We need a Cloud DevOps Engineer for our team. In this role, you’ll bring your knowledge of cloud engineering to client engagements that center on sophisticated and cutting-edge products and reusable assets. You’ll collaborate with various stakeholders, giving the business technical leadership and advising services and contributing to an environment that encourages positive contributions from all participants, including solution and technical architects, engineering teams, product managers, test and project teams, information security teams, and operations. The ideal applicant will possess a blend of soft and technical abilities that allow them to overcome the obstacles that arise during the code release process between the software development and operations teams.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop creative and useful designs that take into account the end-to-end technical solution of a system
• Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to satisfy business needs in areas including product costs, data privacy & sovereignty, business continuity and information security
• Define, implement and recognize reusable assets and standards, and utilize them across products and portfolios
• Ensure the correct application of pertinent technical strategies, rules, standards, and practices across technology programs, projects, and products
• Contribute to the creation of governance structures, processes, and compliance activities in architecture
• Establish long-lasting partnerships across business, IT, vendors and industry analysts
• Identify emerging technological and industry trends and promote their adoption inside our organization.
• Promote and foster the value of technical quality, emerging technologies, sharing and experimentation throughout the organization
• Implement a continuous communication strategy to inform stakeholders about the goals and advantages of solution architecture
• Assist others in tackling intricate problems involving solution architecture and deal with challenging, escalating project concerns

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience working with cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud or GCP
• 3+ years of practical experience in an engineering position employing service and hosting options such IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms in private and public clouds (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• 3+ years of experience using DevOps tools
• 2+ years of expertise in container technologies
• Knowledge of the most recent cloud computing and data technologies, business motivators, computing trends, and deployment alternatives
• Proven expertise in creating distributed, scalable products and services, including reusable domain-specific microservices on multi-platform clouds (such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud)
• Knowledge of business and organizational strategy
• Thorough understanding of the architecture for applications, infrastructure, and security as well as non-functional elements like performance, scalability, reliability and availability
• Comprehensive knowledge of container technologies, with a specialization in Kubernetes
• Ability to use new technologies while upholding security and other standards
• Ability to successfully and clearly convey solutions, ideas, and suggestions to a multitude of business stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities 

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience managing, coaching and mentoring technology professionals
• Prior experience in the consulting and professional services industries as well as the IT sector
